What We Believe
INSPIRATION OF THE HOLY SCRIPTURES – We believe that the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, is the verbally inspired Word and Revelation of God, and is inerrant in every way in the original writing. Psalm 19:7-11, 2 Timothy 3:16,17, 2 Peter 1:16,21.
THE TRIUNE GOD – There is but one true and living God, eternally existing, and manifesting Himself to us in three Divine Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26, John 10:30,36, John 14:26, John 15:26, John 16:13-15, John 17:22, 2 Corinthians 13:14).
THE PERSON AND WORK OF GOD THE FATHER – It is God the Father who receives worship through a believers relationship with Jesus Christ (John 4:32, 8:42, 14:6,26). It is the Father who resurrects the dead, and heaven belongs to Him. He decides when the end times will come (John 5:21, 14:2, Romans 6:4, Acts 1:6,7). He is the one who draws those chosen to Christ, and he predestines believers to adoption, as well as preserving them in their relationship with Him (John 6:44, Ephesians 1:3,5).
THE PERSON AND WORK OF JESUS CHRIST – We believe that Jesus Christ is eternally God, became a man without ceasing to be God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, that he would reveal God and redeem sinful man (Luke 1:35, John 1:1,2,14). The Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, taking our place as our substitute so that we can be reconciled to God. Because Jesus became physically and literally alive again after having been buried, our being declared clean or righteous is made sure (Romans 3:24,25, Ephesians 1:7, 1 Peter 1:3-5; 2:24). Now Jesus is in heaven, sitting at the right hand of God, and as our High Priest, he is ministering as our Representative, is interceding for us, and is our Advocate (Acts 1:9-11, Romans 8:34, Hebrews 7:25, 9:24, 1 John 2:1,2).
HOLY SPIRIT – We believe in the personality and divinity of the Holy Spirit, that He convicts unbelievers or sin, of righteousness, and of judgement. He also gives understanding about Jesus Christ and His work on the cross to man so that they can believe. He regenerates one who believes, meaning he takes them from being spiritually dead and makes them spiritually alive. He permanently dwells in all believers. He instructs, helps, and purifies the body of Christ. ( John 4:16, John 16:7-15, Acts 2:4, Romans 8:26,27, 1 Corinthians 2:10-14, 12:4-11).
SATAN – We believe in the personality and reality of Satan, that he was the author of sin, and that he caused man to sin. We believe that Satan is the declared enemy of God and man, and that he will be eternally punished in the lake of fire. (Job 1:6,7, Isaiah 14:12-17, Matthew 4:2-11, John 8:44, Revelation 12:9,10, Revelation 20:1-15, Revelation 21:8).
MAN – We believe that man was created in the image of God, but when man sinned the human race fell and became alienated from God. Therefore man is utterly depraved and cannot remedy his condition, as an enemy of God, and as a sinner bound for the lake of fire (Genesis 1:26,27, Romans 3:22,23, 5:12, Ephesians 2:1-3,12, Revelation 20:15).
SALVATION – We believe that there is only one way for a person to be saved, and that is a gift from God, and is received by personal faith in the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, whose blood was shed for us on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. (1 Corinthians 15:1-5, Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-10, 1 Peter 1:18,19).
ETERNAL SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER – We believe that once a person has believed, that person cannot lose his salvation. The very faith a person has has been given by God, and God will not remove that faith. Eternal life starts at the moment of belief (John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8,9).
THE CHURCH – We believe that the true Church is the body of Christ consisting of all who have been born again and baptized into the body by the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 3:10,11, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 1:22,23, Ephesians 2:19-22).
MINISTRY AND SPIRITUAL GIFTS – We believe that God is sovereign in choosing who he bestows his gifts on, so not everyone has the same gifts, but each believer is gifted for the purpose of ministering to others. We belie that the gift of prophecy, the gift of speaking in tongues, and the working of sign miracles have ceased, because the Scriptures were completed, and their authority was established (Romans 12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11). We do believe that God does hear and answer prayers regarding the sick, if it is according to his will (John 5:14,15, James 5:14,15).
DISCIPLESHIP – We believe that all saved persons are called into a life of discipleship and obedience to the lordship of Jesus Christ, whereby a person will be progressively conformed more and more into the image of Christ. (Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 8:29, 2 Corinthians 3:18, 1 Peter 1:2).
SECOND COMING OF CHRIST – We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ will be personally coming at any time. We believe that the rapture will occur before the tribulation, and after He comes a 2nd time, He will set up His millenial kingdom where He will literally reign on earth for a 1000 years. (John 14:1-3, Acts 1:11, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Revelation 19:11-21, Revelation 20:1-6).
THE FINAL STATE OF ALL MANKIND – We believe that the souls of all believers are present with God, where they wait for the first resurrection, when the soul and the body will be reunited. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all man. The ones who believed in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ will go to eternal life in heaven. The ones who did not believe, they will go to an everlasting punishment, to the lake of fire (Matthew 25:46, Luke 23:43, John 5:28,29, Philippians 1:23, 3:32, 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17, Revelation 20:4-6).
